Floral Art Demonstration
in San Francisco
The intimate encounter of brilliant flowers and porcelain vases weaved a charming, lovely melody.
Fusako Seiga Hoyrup, a Japanese Ikebana instructor, gave a demonstration of how to combine floral art with porcelain vases to Franz customers at Designers Center in the San Francisco bay area.
According to Instructor Fusako, who has been dedicated to the Japanese art of flower arrangement, plain pottery containers are often used in Ikebana flower arrangement; .
However, Franz porcelain vases with rich colors and elegant threedimensional shapes and Ikebana are a good match in that the combination of these two elements unfolds much more exuberant vitality.
Fusako Seiga Hoyrup has devoted 50 years to the study and teaching of Ikebana. She used her creative skills to arrange and stabilize colorful blossoms, stems and leaves in porcelain vases. Through the pieces’ color combinations, the porcelain vases showed increased width and height and displayed a lofty elegance.
Fusako believes that although flowers don’t speak, they use their beauty to communicate with the outside world.
‘Flowers have a healing effect on people, making them feel free from their cares and have a tranquil mind,’ she added.
As a floral artist herself, she deeply appreciates the beauty of Franz artwork and understands the messages the designers are trying to convey. She owns hundreds of vases for instruction, mostly pottery pieces. Now she also owns a beautiful Franz giraffe vase – which is her favorite piece.
As an experienced and award-winning instructor, she would devote all her energy even if there were only one student in her class. Her students admire her high level of energy, enthusiasm and passion for ikebana. Every 2 years, she organizes a floral show with her students for the local community. With the support of her husband, she was able to bring ikebana lessons into California’s adult education system.
During this ‘floral art demonstration in San Francisco’ training session, distinguished guests and Franz customers learned to combine floral art with Franz porcelain in an artistic way, finding their floral expression in the charming melody evoked by the encounter of brilliant flowers and porcelain vases.
