Franz invited world famous porcelain experts to gather at Porzellanikon Selb to engage in a dialogue on “porcelain,” a truly international china Talk.
China that invented porcelain used to be a fashion leader, setting trends and promoting styles around the world.
Those elaborate items beguiled contemporary royalty and aristocracies, thus affecting the cultural development of European countries.
During the china Talk, Franz Chen, CEO of Franz Collection Inc., shared his viewpoint: China has accumulated 1,700 years’ experience in porcelain production, with each dynasty having its own style.
While created all over the globe, Chinese porcelain pieces were highly sought after by European emperors.

However, when Meissen porcelain was developed in 1709, the secret of porcelain production was discovered by Europeans, who finally cracked the code.
Moreover, with the help of the following Industrial Revolution, the continent’s porcelain industry managed to catch up with China.

Having learned from history, Franz Chen concluded that the company should take advantage of modern technologies to raise productivity, determine the marketability of its product lines from a global perspective, and, most importantly, design emotion-packed pieces from the “heart” so that they will touch people’s hearts.

During the session, Chantal Meslin-Perrier, General Curator of the National Porcelain Museum Adrien Dubouché in Limoges of France, echoed Franz Chen, saying that porcelain development in France is closely linked to China.

For instance,in the early 17th century, French porcelain craftsmen mainly copied Chinese blue and white porcelain, and later they started to be creative.

Besides the retrospection of the history of Eastern and Western porcelain production, many contemporary top porcelain designers shared their creation experiences.
