Go Green with FRANZ
Green Design
Flowers, plants, forests, insects, fish, birds and animals are
all themes of design found in the Franz Collection. The
company wishes to express the Oriental philosophy of
“harmony and care for all living things” through mankind’s
common understanding and appreciation of the beauty of
nature.
Franz products are considered functional art. While they
have practical values too, consumers can collect and
appreciate the beauty of porcelain.
We as a company are concerned about environmental
issues. Endangered species have become the theme of
many collections.
Green Factory
Raw materials
Through technology we use a Pb-free glaze to produce under-glaze porcelain to achieve a distinctive coating. The glaze will protect the colors for more than a thousand years and does not release any harmful chemicals.
The toxic-free formula meets FDA standards, lessening the pollution that might have been caused by production. Furthermore, we reduce the use of styrofoam and use paper as an alternative for packaging.
Equipment
We use untainted electric kilns and high-quality natural gas in lieu of heavy gasoline or fuels that cause high pollution.
We design and plan solar energy facilities to save power in buildings. Furthermore, we adopt anti-noise materials and dust-centralization equipment. Finally, our water purification plant and waste management far exceed international standards. We also use battery-driven cars that are pollution free.
Manufacturing
Since January 4, 2007, the Franz factory in Jingdezhen avoids using raw materials, supplies and fuels that are not 100% manufacturing safe and environment-safe. We use the most advanced equipment to lessen the possible damage to the environment. Our special glaze and clay formula is able to lower the firing temperature for porcelain by 145 degrees and decrease energy consumption by 30%. Furthermore, in the winter, the remaining heat from the manufacturing process is able to adjust the indoor temperature of the factory.
Environment
Franz Collection planned and designed its Jingdezhen factory based on the concept “the factory is a school, the school is a park”, making the factory into a living place that integrates art and creativity. The factory has an ecological park and a ceramics art village.
We also work with local farmers on green landscape projects in order to promote a lifestyle industry and cultural tourism This reflects the company’s determination to become a life long brand. Instead of entering the market by production quantity, Franz Collection innovates with quality, making a substantial contribution to Jingdezhen ~ the thousandyear old porcelain capital in China.
Outcome
Each year the emission of 557 tons of carbon dioxide is reduced. 557 tons of carbon dioxide is the annual absorption of 15,590 eucalyptuses. This equates to 157 tons of carbon and 532 trees.
The Jingdezhen Longshan Afforestation Project planted several hundred of thousands of Chinese trees and several hundred maple trees to balance the emission of carbon dioxide from the factory. In 2008, the National Culture Department chose the Franz Jingdezhen Park as the “Model Base for the National Culture Industry.” Franz Collection has won the Seal of Excellence from UNESCO (United National Educational, Scientific & Cultural Organization) three years in a row with “Bamboo Song Bird Collection” in 2006, “Hibiscus Collection” in 2007 and “Rain Forest Little Dwellers Collection” in 2008 all tribute to nature.
Branding
Established in 2001, Franz Collection has become a popular brand with its five main themes: innovation, quality, fashion, culture and art. The award winning Franz Collection is distributed in 6000 stores in 53 countries worldwide and has become a cultural treasure that people are proud to pass on for generations.
