Colorful Butterflies Fly Around in the Garden
When we asked if she had counted how many butterflies were sculpted onto the clay, the sculptor smilingly said yes. Then we asked her to reveal the number, but she preferred to keep it to herself, saying it’s better for collectors to count the numerous butterflies themselves as if playing a game, adding fun to this design.
This piece uniquely features a myriad of butterflies, each with its own characteristic – some are flying side by side, others resting on buds, and still others dancing alone in the garden.
The sculptor carefully carved out all the butterflies, making them interact and mingle with each other in a wonderful manner. Moreover, it was a great challenge to sculpt the butterflies in miniature on the clay.

The creator of Franz’s Dream of the Red Chamber series, Vera designed the Numerous Blessings porcelain vase featuring a harmonious blend of eastern and western cultures by drawing on butterflies and ingeniously using romantic colors evocative of western painting in lieu of colors typical to China.
She revealed that this appealing piece features four idyllic views around its body, with colorful, fluttering butterflies symbolizing blessings in Chinese culture coming from all directions to convey a message of happiness and blessings.
